Aamir Khan’s Dangal emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters of 2016 with a worldwide collection of almost Rs. 2,000 crores. The basic premise focused on the lives of the three members of the popular Phogat Family.
While the audiences believed that the family of wrestlers received a huge sum of money after the film’s success, the reality turned out to be something different.

Sanya Malhotra portrayed Babita Phogat and the latter recently claimed in an interview that they were paid only Rs. 1 crore.
Babita said in the conversation that director Nitesh Tiwari first narrated the story and none of the members were unaware of the actors who had been cast to portray them. Babita recalled the time when she saw the film, saying that she became emotional.

Babita disclosed some unknown details, including that there was a discussion to remove her name since the makers wanted to change it for unknown reasons.
However, her father Mahavir refused to agree to the same and told Aamir Khan to use their real names.

Babita added that the fees for the rights were finalized before the story was written, stating that it was not even 1% of the overall earnings, which sums up to Rs. 20 crores considering the total collection. She eventually revealed the main amount, which was Rs. 1 crore.
While Babita’s statement has created headlines, Nitesh Tiwari and Aamir Khan are yet to share a response to the same.
