Rashmika Mandanna is currently balancing commercial projects with roles that offer more depth and responsibility. Lately, she’s also shown growing interest in women-centric stories. She is currently one of the topmost female pan-India stars.
Rashmika follows a few personal guidelines when choosing roles. One of her most important rules is to avoid smoking scenes.

She has publicly stated that she dislikes smoking and refuses to portray characters who smoke — even if the script is good or the role is opposite a big star.
“I hate smoking. That’s why I don’t accept roles that require it. I believe these scenes can send the wrong message to the audience. I would rather lose a film than compromise on my values, no matter how big the offer,” she said in a recent interview.

However, her comments recently triggered backlash online. After she reiterated her no-smoking policy, a clip from one of her older films — showing her smoking — resurfaced on social media. This led to backlash from some netizens who accused her of contradicting herself.
Rashmika has consistently maintained that she doesn’t smoke in real life and actively avoids being around smokers. In the past, she even responded politely to a harsh comment asking how many cigarettes she smokes daily, saying she hates it altogether.

Interestingly, she has shared that she enjoys wine occasionally and loves exploring new cuisines. But when it comes to smoking — on or off screen — she draws a hard line.
