Ranveer Singh is expecting his first baby with Deepika Padukone.
Ranveer Singh’s upcoming movie Rakshas with director Prasanth Varma has been shelved.
After the success of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani, Ranveer Singh was supposed to be seen in several big projects like Rakshas and Shaktimaan. However, unlike his co-star Alia Bhatt who is on a roll, Ranveer Singh’s schedule is not so busy. Five big films which were supposed to feature the actor have been shelved. Here’s a look at them:
Rakshas
Ranveer Singh was looking forward to Prashanth Varma’s Rakshas. However, the actor reportedly walked out of the project due to “creative differences”. The filmmaker recently released a statement, expressing that he wishes to work with Ranveer in the future. He said, “Ranveer’s energy and talent is rare to find. We shall manifest our forces combining soon sometime in the future.” Both parties also agreed that “everyone’s intentions were right” in making this movie but “something’s sometimes aren’t meant to be at that time”.
Baiju Bawra
Ranveer Singh was supposed to be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra. After successful collaborations like Padmaavat and Ramleela, the anticipation was high for Baiju Bawra. However, according to a Hindustan Times report, the filmmaker has decided to instead focus on Love and War next, starring Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
Anniyan Remake
Ranveer Singh was also in talks with S Shankar for the Hindi adaptation of his 2005 psychological action thriller, Anniyan. However, the original film’s producer, Aascar Ravichandran, filed a complaint against Shankar and claimed, “They cannot make the film without my consent as I own the copyright of the film and no other person has the right over it as I am the author of the movie.” Shankar then responded to the claims and said that the script belonged to him. However, Ravichandran demanded that the project be halted. However, as per Bollywood Hungama, Shankar had already began speaking to Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani about another “big film”.
Shaktimaan
It was earlier reported that Ranveer Singh was going to headline the film version of Mukesh Khanna’s popular television show, Shaktimaan. The film was supposed to be directed by Basil Joseph. However, Mukesh Khanna later said in a video, “Ranveer Singh came to meet me. Within 2-3 hours of sharing this video, the news channels started sharing videos that Ranveer Singh came to convince Mukesh ji. Mukesh ji said that Ranveer Singh has a very dynamic personality and according to him, there is no more energetic actor in this industry than him. Let me tell you that I have said all this but I have never said that he is going to play the role of Shaktimaan. Note that.” According to a Hindustan Times report, Mukesh said that Ranveer was “no longer playing Shaktimaan”.
Takht
Ranveer Singh was supposed to play Dara Shikoh in Karan Johar’s Takht. Dara Shikoh was Shah Jahan’s eldest son. The film was also supposed to feature Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor. However, as per the Hindustan Times, the film was shelved after the pandemic due to difficulty in execution. During the promotion of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, Karan Johar said, “We were making Takht and then the pandemic happened and we had to keep it momentarily aside because it was a huge film. And making a film of that stature during the pandemic was not possible.”
Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh still has Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3 in his kitty. He will be taking the mantle forward from Shah Rukh Khan. Don 3 will also star Kiara Advani in the lead. Ranveer will also be seen in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again as Simmba, his character in the cop-verse. On the personal front, he is expecting his first child with Deepika Padukone.
