The second quarter of FY2024 turned out to be a time of success for both Hindi and regional cinema.
In the Hindi segment, Stree 2 bagged an outstanding collection of ₹713 Cr., with Kalki 2898 AD following closely with ₹214 Cr. according to trade reports.

Regional cinema also made great strides in this quarter, with Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Greatest of All Time’ making it to the top with a massive ₹250 Cr. collection.
Jr.NTR’s Telugu-epic Devara also made it to the list, coming in at 3rd just after Kalki 2898 AD with a collection of 147.2 Cr. going by the reports.

Stree 2 and Kalki 2898 AD made it to the top due to their distinct genres, with one being a horror-comedy, and the other a dystopian futuristic sci-fi with deep roots in history.
The combination of horror with the supernatural in Stree 2 and Kalki’s futuristic vision with a glimpse of the past led to them breaking records.

Devara’s deep storytelling with beautiful underwater scenes, along with the mass appeal of Jr. NTR turned out to be magical for the film, as it achieved the outstanding feat of making it big despite not having a strong start.
Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘G.O.A.T.’ once again showed the might of the Tamil cinema as it topped the regional film’s list due to its massive action prowess and the stardom of Thalapathy himself.
The numbers for this quarter point towards increased enthusiasm among moviegoers, with a much louder appeal for regional cinema on a national scale.
This proves that even in the times of OTT, traditional cinema is not going anywhere anytime soon!
