Pushpa 2: Why Bollywood Lost it’s Ground?

The Indian film industry is facing an epidemic of poorly written scripts, churning out creative disasters, and failing to grab the audience’s attention. While films like Pushpa 2, KGF, and Jawan become massive blockbusters, most of the movies are in the dust.

The major reason behind this creative crisis is the total lack of connection with the general public. The writers, directors, and producers are disillusioned with their view of the “common man” and fail to capture its essence.

While the above-mentioned films got a boost due to their star power, at its core all of them capture the experiences of the general public. There is no doubt that they are highly produced films, with everything presented at a grand scale but the stories stay true to the struggles of a relatable and authentic hero.

Another reason is the audience’s poor response to original stories. While films with big stars become massive box office blockbusters, relatable and creative scripts don’t get much hype, leading to producers backing out of such projects.

Thus, there is a need for a cultural shift in Indian films and their audiences, where production houses fearlessly support new creative ideas. Filmmakers should get out of their ivory houses and write stories that connect to the masses.
