Pushpa 2: Opposition Gone Completely Silent!

The anticipation for Pushpa: The Rule is reaching extraordinary levels across India, including North India.

Fans and industry insiders are eagerly awaiting the release of this sequel to the blockbuster Pushpa. With Allu Arjun’s massive fan following and the success of the first film, expectations are incredibly high.

Reports indicate that Pushpa 2 has already generated a remarkable ₹900-1000 crore in pre-release business. The film’s OTT rights were sold to Netflix for a historic ₹275 crore, underscoring the significant buzz surrounding its release.

This pre-release excitement is unusual and sets the stage for a huge box office performance if the film gets positive word of mouth.

Pushpa 2 is set to clash with Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava which tells the story of Great Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj of the Maratha Empire, on December 6th.

However, with Pushpa 2’s immense popularity, Chhaava is struggling to find its footing at the box office. For Chhaava to be considered a hit, it needs to earn around ₹200 crore domestically which seems difficult with Pushpa 2 in the opposition.

Pushpa’s distributor, Anil Thadani, has secured extensive screen allocations for Pushpa 2 in North India, especially by pairing it with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.

Chaava has all the merits to do fantastic business, especially in the Maharashtra region where it can emerge as one of the biggest hits ever. But clashing with the Pushpa 2 tornado will hurt its prospects.

Given Allu Arjun’s star power and the established value of the Pushpa franchise, Chhaava might struggle to even open. It could struggle to collect even ₹10 crore on its opening day—an underwhelming figure for a big-budget film.

As a result, the makers of Chhaava have gone quiet and may be reconsidering their release strategy, possibly looking to push it to a later date, with Independence Day 2025 emerging as a more favorable option for a film of its scale.
