In a surprising revelation, music director Thaman has finally spoken about the confusion surrounding his contribution to Pushpa 2: The Rule.
Though it was confirmed last year that Thaman would be part of the much-hyped Allu Arjun-Sukumar sequel, the composer has now clarified why his work ultimately didn’t make it to the final cut.

Thaman revealed in a recent interview that he worked on the film for nearly 10 days, producing three versions of the background score across three reels.
Despite the team initially liking his versions, the makers eventually decided to go ahead with Devi Sri Prasad (DSP) and Sam CS for the final BGM.

“I worked on Pushpa 2 for 10 days and gave 3 versions of the music. I worked on around 3 reels. The team liked it, but they went with DSP and Sam CS for the BGM. It was the director’s choice,” said Thaman.
Thaman’s honest statement shows Sukumar and Allu Arjun were not impressed by his work. Even someone as big as Thaman couldn’t get in, despite trying with three versions.

It’s not always about talent — it’s about fitting the director’s vision. And for Pushpa 2, that vision needed a different kind of music. Thaman tried not once, but three times — yet still couldn’t land the gig. His music didn’t click with Sukumar or Allu Arjun, and all that effort ended up going to waste.
However, the background score was quite good in Pushpa 2 which maintained the tempo of the first part and improved in giving the film a classier yet massy appeal.
