Propaganda Film The Sabarmati Report Day 1 Box Office: Pathetic 1 Crore

Vikrant Massey’s latest release ‘The Sabarmati Report’, released on 15th November, gave a very underwhelming response at the Box Office on its opening day.

The film, despite its very crucial and controversial subject matter, only managed to make the opening day collection of about ₹1.15 Cr., placing it squarely among the lowest opening Hindi films of 2024.

The public had been divided on the portrayal of the sensitive Godhra tragedy since the film started creating waves. Many had criticised it as a ‘propaganda’ film, dismissing it right away.

People reflected skepticism around the day 1 collection of the film, as they took to social media to express their opinions. One user wrote, “Audiences rejected it on Day 1, this doesn’t look promising.”

But the harsh start of the film does not mean all is lost for Vikrant Massey. The actor’s earlier film ‘12th Fail’ also received a very slow start. Despite this, it went on to become a massive hit, earning over ₹50Cr. during its time in theatres.

Time will soon reveal whether ‘The Sabarmati Report’ is able to shake off its ‘propaganda’ tag, benefitting from some positive word-of-mouth to overcome its very slow start as it continues its theatrical run.
