In his memoir ‘Spare’ which is set to be published on January 10, Prince Harry detailed an instance when his brother Prince William physically attacked him amid tensions in their relationship over Harry’s marriage to Meghan Markle.

Recalling how the confrontation between him and Prince William occurred, Prince Harry said, as per excerpts shared in The Guardian that William called Meghan Markle “difficult”, “rude” and “abrasive”. Prince Harry believes that it was a “parrot[ing of] the press narrative” about Meghan Markle. But the fight between the two brothers escalated and then Prince William “grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and … knocked me to the floor”, Prince Harry recounts.

“He set down the water, called me another name, then came at me. It all happened so fast. So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out,” Prince Harry writes in the memoir as per The Guardian.

Owing to the physical assault, Prince Harry says that he also had a visible injury to his back. The memoir ‘Spare’ is set to be published worldwide next week amid strain between members of the royal family and Prince Harry.

Prince Harry also says in the book that he did not tell his wife Meghan Markle about the incident but she later noticed “scrapes and bruises” on his back.

“She was terribly sad,” Prince Harry says about Meghan’s reaction to the fight.
