The shooting for The Raja Saab, starring Prabhas and directed by Maruthi, began quietly in October 2022.
Many believed that this would be Prabhas’ fastest film post-COVID. Initially, people expected the movie to be released in 2023 without any delays, but things didn’t go as planned.

The film’s production was slowed down as the makers decided to give it a grand pan-India appeal. After many dates including Sankranthi 2025, the makers finally announced that the film would release on April 10, 2025. However, even this date seems to be gone now.
There are also rumors that the film is facing delays due to financial hurdles. Raja Saab is the biggest project of People’s Media Factory but is stuck due to unpaid dues.

February schedules were canceled, and Prabhas’ dates went to waste. VFX work is also delayed as CG companies demand payments.
Prabhas will soon start Spirit with Vanga, and it would be tough for Maruthi to get Prabhas’ dates again.

The film will soon surpass 900 days since it started. If counted from October 2022, this seems accurate. Even Rajamouli doesn’t take that much time to finish his epic films, and Maruthi has taken almost three years to make a simple horror comedy.
When Radhe Shyam was about to release, Thaman hinted about The Raja Saab. It means this project has been in development for more than three years now.
A movie that was initially expected to hit theaters in just nine months has now taken three years, making fans impatient.
As of now, The Raja Saab is looking to release around Christmas 2025 if all financial issues are sorted.
