Interestingly, the basic plotline bears a resemblance to Shah Rukh Khan’s 2004 blockbuster Veer Zaara, where SRK’s character is imprisoned for love. The classic love story became an iconic film and was recently re-released and did superb business at the box office, reaffirming its timeless appeal.

While Fauji appears to follow a similar emotional arc, it is said to have unique and shocking twists and Hanu’s signature storytelling style.
