Pushpa 2 shattered records, grossing 1700 crores in both national and international markets.

Combined, the total box office revenue from these two films alone almost touched 3000 crores, a remarkable feat that the trade industry noted with excitement.

Interestingly, when compared to Bollywood’s Shah Rukh Khan, who earned a total of 2700 crores from his 2023 releases—Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki—the Tollywood stars outperformed their Bollywood counterparts in 2024.
Jawan alone grossed 1200 crores, Pathaan brought in 1050 crores, and Dunki added another 450 crores.
While Shah Rukh Khan’s collections in 2023 were extraordinary, the combined success of Prabhas and Allu Arjun has clearly placed Tollywood ahead of Bollywood, showcasing the increasing influence of South Indian cinema.
These successes suggest that Tollywood is not only competing with Bollywood stars but is now positioned to surpass them, further solidifying its global presence.
In 2024, however, Tollywood might have to take a back seat as there is no film that can match the hype of Pushpa 2 on pan-India level.
