The Passport Seva Portal in India is one of the best examples of the impact of the digital India movement. The Passport Seva has informed that the portal for its services will remain closed from the 29th of August to 2nd of September till 6:00 hours. The whole system will not be available for use by any citizen or the ministry or authorities.

No appointments can be made during this period and the already scheduled appointments on the 30th of August will be rescheduled to a new date after the portal opens. The website will be made available to public use after 6:00 hours on the 2nd of September.
This would practically shut down the system for 5 days. The portal is being subjected to technical maintenance and that is the reason cited by the passport services for the shutdown of the website. A large number of people utilize the services of this website everyday.
