Parliament Session, Lok Sabha Rajya Sabha Session Day 6 Live Updates: Ahead of the Lok Sabha sitting this morning, Congress MP Manish Tewari has moved an adjournment motion for the purpose of discussing the three new criminal laws that came into effect today. The three new laws — the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam — are replacing colonial-era laws of the IPC, CrPC and Evidence Act. “The laws lay the foundations of turning India into a Police State. Their implementation must be stopped forthwith and Parliament must re-examine them,” Tewari wrote in a post on X today.

Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned on Friday amid acrimonious scenes after Speaker Om Birla refused permission to the Opposition’s demand for a discussion on the alleged irregularities in the NEET results. In the Rajya Sabha, a lacklustre debate followed after a couple of adjournments and staging of a walkout by Opposition members. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, along with the Opposition MPs, had stepped in the Well to demand a discussion .
