Unfortunately, India is absent from the list of nations. The San Francisco-based AI powerhouse rolled out ChatGPT Plus in India in March but it seems the app launch may take some time.
The free app comes without ads, and it offers a similar experience to the ChatGPT experience on web browsers. However, now they will have access to the sensational chatbot on the go. Reportedly the interface seems like a messaging application, where users can start typing text at the bottom of the screen. Users can also dictate prompts, and this is possible owing to the integration of Open-AI’s open-source speech recognition system, Whisper.
The latest development was also announced by Mira Murati, the CTO at OpenAI. Murati wrote in a tweet that the ChatGPT app for iOS was now available in the said countries, and it will be rolled out to more nations soon.
On May 18, the company announced the launch of its iOS app for ChatGPT. According to the company, the app will sync user history across devices and will feature the latest improvements in the OpenAI model.
“With the ChatGPT app for iOS, we’re taking another step towards our mission by transforming state-of-the-art research into useful tools that empower people while continuously making them more accessible,” the company said in its blog post.
OpenAI stated that iOS app users would get instant access to responses without any ads. It will be a great source of tailored advice on a variety of topics. The app can also be a source of creative inspiration for many. For professionals, the iOS app can prove to be a tool that can boost productivity. Besides, it can be a great tool for education.
Meanwhile, several users around the world reported that ChatGPT was unresponsive. Users filed complaints on Downdetector, a platform that tracks outages on various services. Some reports also suggested that the outage was witnessed by free users and not ChatGPT Plus subscribers.
When we tried ChatGPT, there were momentary disconnects, prompting us to login again, or a notification stating there was a traffic overload. Some publications also suggested that OpenAI has acknowledged the outage and was working on resolving it. However, the Indianexpress.com could not independently verify these claims.
