Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced the government’s plan to construct a new international cricket stadium in Hyderabad.

Speaking in the assembly today, Revanth stated that the new international cricket stadium would be constructed at Begarikancha, located on the outskirts of Hyderabad, near the Skill University whose foundation was laid yesterday.

Revanth said that the government held talks with the BCCI regarding the construction of a world-class cricket stadium and assured its full support. He mentioned that the BCCI responded positively and showed interest in constructing the stadium.

Revanth emphasized the need to develop sports facilities across the state to help young people overcome various addictions and encourage them to excel in various games.

He recalled that the government allocated Rs. 361 crores for sports in this year’s budget, an amount which was never allotted for sports in the past.

He said that the government aims to implement a comprehensive sports policy in Telangana and is also planning to construct a mini stadium in every mandal.

Revanth stated that not only education but sports can also provide jobs and respect to people. He mentioned that World Boxing Champion Nikhat Zareen was awarded a cash prize, a plot in a posh locality of Hyderabad, and a DSP cadre position.

He also noted that Mohammed Siraj, the T20 World Cup Winner, was given a Group-1 post despite not meeting the technical qualifications, as he only passed intermediate while a degree is required for Group-1 positions.

Revanth went on to say that the government is ready to encourage individuals who excel in sports and promised to provide them with good government job positions, similar to Nikhat and Siraj.
