A disk jockey (DJ) from West Bengal was shot dead inside a bar in Ranchi, in front of the Radisson Blu hotel, in the capital of Jharkhand, police said.
The shooting in the wee hours of Monday occurred after intoxicated men, divided into two groups, clashed over the “teasing” of girls. This prompted one group to inform their friends, who arrived with batons and engaged in violent acts. The firing resulted in the death of a DJ named Sandeep at the “Xtream Sports Bar.”

Ranchi SSP Chandan Kumar Mishra told journalists that there was a scuffle between the bar’s bouncers and customers. Soon, outsiders entered the scene, and half a dozen bullets were fired, resulting in Sanjeev’s death. Police collected CCTV footage, and a team from the forensic laboratory reached the crime site and collected available evidence. The deceased DJ Sandeep, who hailed from West Bengal, was working on a “performance wage.”
Though the police were busy investigating and a search operation was ongoing to track the culprits, no arrest was made until 9.30 am on Monday. “A clash happened between customers and bouncers at the bar. It might be possible that one of those customers carried out this incident. We are searching for the culprits. The investigation is underway,” SSP Sinha said.
