Day 3 of DNC saw an unprecedented incident as a Hindu priest recited some lines from the Vedic scriptures to kick off the event with a positive message. Priest Rakesh Bhatt recited the lines in Sanskrit and translated them into English for the audience. He concluded his message with the chants of “Om Shanti Shanti” a popular chant in Hinduism wishing peace.

Democratic National Convention (DNC) came to an end on Thursday as Kamala Harris and Tim Walz officially accepted the nomination for Presidency and Vice Presidency respectively. Earlier the trends had shown there was a dip in the Indian-American vote share for Biden in the upcoming US elections. Now with an Indian-American presidential candidate, the Democrats are eying to gain back that lost vote share.

This recent incident could be another play to swing the Indian-American votes towards them as that can be a crucial factor in the upcoming US Elections. While they only constitute 1.5% of the population in the US, their influence is far stronger than the numbers as evident from this latest stint. It shows India’s global power and how Indian immigrants are essential for the growth of rich and deep Indian culture.
