An attendee at the Paris Olympics claimed Noah Lyles‘ mom didn’t tell the whole truth about security’s response to her son’s apparent Covid-induced collapse following the 200m final.
The fan, whose X username is @mizzADDYtude, claimed she was seated near Keisha Caine Bishop when she pleaded with security to help the American track star, who allegedly ran the race with a 102-degree fever.
‘I was sitting right there and watched the whole thing. Security didn’t refuse to call medical. They refused to let her on the field. Yelling in their faces and trying to jump the fence. Security did their job,’ the fan tweeted.
‘Medical came and provided aid. She went another way to be with him. She did her job as a mother. Security did their job not letting anyone that was not a photographer through the gate,’ she went on.
It came in response to Bishop’s furious Instagram post, in which she claimed stadium security wouldn’t call a doctor despite Lyles collapsing to the floor.

‘This was one of the scariest moments of my life! Watching my son hold his chest gasping for air while the stadium security refused to call a Dr. as I begged them to send him help,’ she wrote earlier this week.
‘They also refused to do anything to help. They totally ignored me! No parent should ever have to experience this feeling of helplessness!’ she went on.
‘However, I want to thank the @nbcolympics team for helping me during this moment. Thank you for seeing me & my son as human beings and not just another story. Words cannot express my gratitude for your empathy, professionalism, and kindness.
‘Also thank you @usatf staff who let me cry on their shoulders. To the security team, I pray if your loved one ever needs help, they get treated better than you treated us. I also thank God he is getting better.’
Lyles, who was the favorite to win after taking home gold in the 100m, finished third in the event.

Shortly after clinching a bronze medal behind Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo and fellow Team USA star, Kenny Bednarek, Lyles revealed he had competed with Covid.
During the live broadcast, Lewis Johnson confirmed the news to NBC viewers.
‘We saw Noah being taken off there in a wheelchair. I ran into his mom who was distraught,’ he said.
‘She did confirm that Noah had been diagnosed with Covid two days ago but he decided he was going to run anyway,’ he went on.
‘I ran down underneath the stadium to try and find where he was. We found Noah Lyles in medical being tended to.’
While it’s not entirely clear how quickly Lyles received medical attention, the 27-year-old was eventually pushed out of the stadium in a wheelchair.
