Paying tributes to N.T. Rama Rao (NTR) on the occasion of his death anniversary, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said in a message on X that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder and former Chief Minister was a great visionary and humanist.

He observed that NTR had pioneered the reforms that were aimed at reducing poverty. With this mind, NTR introduced a slew of welfare schemes targeted at the people languishing in penury and achieved impressive results.

Mr. Naidu further said NTR was a social reformer who empowered the Backward Classes and women in politics and other arenas. NTR gave equal priority to development, welfare and good governance and had always strived to eradicate poverty, which he considered as the basic objective of political power.
