‘Not A Sportsman:’ Internet On Pakistan Cricketer Azam Khan Eating New York Street Food

With two defeats in as many games, Pakistan has had a poor start to the T20 World Cup 2024 campaign. It started with a loss to co-hosts USA. In their next game, Pakistan faced a six-run defeat to arch-rivals India. Amid their poor T20 World Cup run, Pakistan wicketkeeper Azam Khan has presumably been spotted enjoying street food at a shop in New York.

The video, which surfaced online following Pakistan’s loss to India, has infuriated fans for showing Azam in a carefree mood. Azam is often criticised for his perceived lack of fitness and the latest viral post has only added fuel to the fire.

Reacting to the post, one social media user wrote, “Shameful.”

This fan even called for Azam Khan’s ban from international cricket. “Bro should be banned from international cricket immediately. Afterwards, he eats whatever we don’t care. Just don’t eat the emotions of loyal fans,” read the response.

Taking a dig at Azam Khan, one person commented, “How a professional cricketer can eat from a fast food outlet during a WC? They don’t have any idea about players’ diet and what not to eat during these days.”

Another user cheekily replied, “Which New Yorker would believe this is a national team athlete during an ongoing World Cup.”

One social media user felt, “He might be a food addict. Which is cool. But he’s not a sportsman.”

Coming out in defence of Azam Khan, another person commented, “Let him eat in peace man. Just bcoz he is healthy (fat) does not mean he shouldn’t eat at all.”

Echoing a similar sentiment, one user wrote, “He is just eating as we all do 3 times a day. What’s wrong with it & this is NY flavour too while eating at food trucks.”

In Pakistan’s T20 World Cup 2024 opening fixture against co-hosts USA, Azam Khan was out for a duck. Pakistan faced a defeat in the Super Over in that game. The outcome did not change much in the next fixture as Pakistan lost by six runs to India. Azam did not take part in that game against arch-rivals India. Pakistan will next take on Canada tonight in New York.
