When Baahubali 2 happened, all of India was in a state of bewilderment after the film grossed over Rs 1800 crore at the global box office. Though Dangal did something similar, it was mostly from a lucky run in China.
However, Rajamouli s regarded as the director who opened the Rs 1000 crore bracket for everyone else. Later, the likes of Sukumar, Nag Ashwin, Prashanth Neel, Atlee and others joined this suit.

Now, going by the current market trends, Rajamouli can no longer make do with Rs 1000 crore grossers like his previous film RRR.
What Rajamouli achieved in his career thus far is paramount and he needs to always be ahead of others. After having opened the Rs 1000 crore market and the pan Indian trend in Indian cinema, Rajamouli needs to do something beyond ordinary to stand out now.

A certain Rs 3000 crore grosser would certainly do it for him now. This could very well be the target for his film with Mahesh Babu.
As things stand, the India box office appears to have saturated at the Rs 1800 crore mark as both BB2 and Pushpa 2 ended up in this bracket. If we add inflation by the time Rajamouli and Mahesh’s film releases, Rs 2000 crore could be the realistic projection.

But this is where Rajamouli needs to up the ante and open pan world belts. He has significant influence in the Japanese market after RRR and same is the case with the western markets as well, considering even US natives loved RRR.
The target for Rajamouli now is to open up markets that no other Indian director could. This might sound like far cry for now, but not many would have expected Baahubali 2 rampage either. Essentially, with Rajamouli, literally anything can happen.
If Rajamouli can open up the Rs 3000 crore market then it would most certainly mean that no other Indian director would be able to replicate it in the near future. This would truly set him apart from the rest.
