Indiana’s dream start to the 2022-23 college basketball season is on the brink of taking flight as the No. 10 Hoosiers have preseason No. 1 North Carolina on the ropes at halftime inside Assembly Hall. Indiana leads No. 18 North Carolina 35-29 through 20 minutes of action in one of the final games of this year’s ACC/Big Ten Challenge, having led thus far for more than 17 minutes of action.
It’s been a tag-team effort from IU in the early going with both young and veterans contributing to the potential takedown of mighty UNC. Senior Trayce Jackson-Davis has 10 points and 7 boards at the break and true freshman Jalen Hood-Schifino has a game-high 12 points.
UNC, which has lost its last two games entering the game after a 5-0 start to its season, made just eight of its 28 field goal attempts but has miraculously found a way to hang tight on the road. With big man Armando Bacot struggling with shoulder and ankle injuries, Northwestern transfer Pete Nance has found a way to step up with a team-high 11 points at half, accounting for three of the team’s made field goals.
We’re in for a fun finish inside Assembly Hall, so we’ll be following all the action in our live blog below as the game unfolds.
