The High Court recently denied anticipatory bail to the then CID DSP Vijay Paul, who was later appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) by the Jagan government after his retirement. A case of sedition had been filed against RRR for holding press meetings critical of the government. Vijay Paul, as a CID officer, had filed the case suo moto.
Now that Vijay Paul has been denied anticipatory bail, it raises questions about whether other key figures involved—such as the then CID Chief PV Sunil Kumar and Intelligence (A2) Chief P. Seetharaamaanjaneyulu (A1) —who were allegedly involved in the arrest and torture of RRR, might also fail to secure precautionary bail.
