Indian chess player Gukesh Dommaraju has become the youngest world chess champion after defeating Ding Liren in the championship recently and crores of Indians are elated.
Gukesh also received a gigantic amount of 11.45 crore rupees from FIDE. The championship has made him a multi-millionaire overnight and it is very well deserved too.

But because of tax regulations 4.67 crores, which is almost half the money, will have to be given to the government.
Nirmala Sitharaman is notorious for making the loves of middle class people hellish with her taxing system. And now, when a young boy from the middle class goes on to be a multi millionaire, half his money has to be given as tax.

Such an impossible amount of tax does not make any sense at all and Gukesh has full support from the already suffering middle class. But the young champion has said he does play chess for money and it does not matter very much to him.
But these uneven rules obviously have to be changed. Gukesh deserves all the money that he got from FIDE and eating up half its share for taxes is not fair at all.
