This Friday, the Telugu box office looks dull, with no notable films releasing and a couple of unknown titles hitting the screens. Meanwhile, the Tamil box office is witnessing an interesting clash between NEEK (Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam), directed, written, and produced by Dhanush, and DRAGON starring Love Today lead Pradeep Ranganathan, known for his role in Love Today.
NEEK has a youthful vibe, a chartbuster song, and has generated good pre-release buzz, making the clash even more intriguing.

While DRAGON backed out of its U.S. premieres and even started refunding tickets—suggesting a lack of confidence from the makers or other undisclosed reasons—Dhanush’s NEEK went ahead with its premieres in Chennai.
Early talk from Tamil influencers is positive, but the real verdict will be clear only once DRAGON releases. Both films seem equally promising, making it uncertain which one will have the upper hand.

However, when it comes to NEEK reviews, Tamil influencers are already hyping the film with 3-star and 4-star ratings. This is common, as they often rate even average films 3 stars or higher, making their reviews unreliable.
That said, one thing is clear—NEEK’s initial reception isn’t negative and rom-com has definitely passed the initial test, but given the questionable reliability of early NEEK reviews, we need to wait until tomorrow to see if Dhanush has truly delivered with his directorial debut.
