The Andhra Pradesh government has formed a new Governing Council for the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), consisting of 24 members. Bollineni Rajagopala Naidu, a media figure, has been appointed as chairman, with diverse representation from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka on the board.

Telangana has significant representation after Andhra Pradesh, and members from various fields have been included, including those in politics, law, and the pharmaceutical industry.
Notably, eight members from the ruling TDP, including three MLAs, have secured positions, alongside three members from Jana Sena. The inclusion of a BJP member remains pending, with one slot still undecided.

In a first for the TTD board, former Chief Justice of India, Justice HL Dutt, has been appointed, marking a significant addition. Tamil Nadu lawyer Krishnamurthy, close to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has secured a fourth term on the board. It is reported that Amit Shah’s wife and Krishnamurthy’s wife are childhood friends. Krishnamurthy is a lawyer of Madras High Court and Supreme Court.
Additionally, Nannapaneni Sadashiva Rao and Suchitra Ella, representing the pharmaceutical sector, have been selected as board members. This composition underscores a blend of political, legal, and industrial expertise, aligning the TTD board with representatives from across southern India and creating a multi-regional governance structure for one of India’s most revered temples.
