With a collection of 16.25 crore so far Jigra has been a terrible low for Alia Bhatt. Dharma Productions put their heart and soul into the promotions and marketing but it didn’t convert into valuable digits at the box office.
On top of it it has hopped on a streak of controversy. First, Divya Khosla exposed the dark truth of plagiarism from her film Savi.

Now, a Manipur based actor has revealed the racism he had to face by the makers and producers. Bijou Thaangjam had auditioned for a role in Jigra and makers assured that they would cast him.
But later on he was badly ignored – because of getting an opportunity with such a big production house he had also paused his other project. The whole incident was extremely unprofessional and led to an overall disappointment for the Manipuri actor.

He took to social media to raise his voice. He clarified that he is not doing this to add on to the controversy around Jigra but to highlight the struggles that people from the Northeast have to face in the mainstream industry.
The producer, actors and director of the film have kept quiet about all the previous controversies around the film. It would be crucial to see how they respond to these new allegations.
