A 20-year-old woman was found murdered in Navi Mumbai on Saturday, with reports linking the case to a suspected jilted lover. The victim, Yashshri Shinde, was discovered in the bushes near a railway station in Uran late Friday night.
Yashshri, who worked in Belapur and lived with her family in Uran, was reported missing after she did not return home from work on Thursday, The Indian Express reported. Her family filed a missing person report at the Uran police station when they were unable to contact her.
The police received a call around 2 am. Saturday about a woman’s body found near the railway station. Officers rushed to the scene and later identified the remains as Shinde’s. The body showed multiple stab wounds on her stomach and back.
Police believe the murder may be connected to a failed romantic relationship. Yashshri’s father, Surendra Kumar, has named Dawood Shaikh as the prime suspect. Shaikh is currently on the run, and police have formed seven teams to track him down. A parallel investigation by the crime branch is also underway.

Four hours later, police received a call about a body found in the bushes near the railway station.
