In a heart-wrenching incident that unfolded in Atlanta, USA, a Telangana NRI has tragically drowned in a community swimming pool. Thapsi Praveen Kumar, a 41-year-old native of Patharlapahad in Suryapet district, lost his life on the evening of August 25, 2024.
Praveen Kumar, who had been residing in the United States with his wife Shanthi for the past six years, was an educator by profession.

On that fateful evening, he decided to take a swim at a local community pool around 8 PM. Unfortunately, he misjudged the pool’s depth, leading to his accidental drowning. Despite the quick arrival of help, it was too late to save him. However, some suspect a mystery behind his death.
His wife Shanthi, who is now facing the unbearable task of dealing with this loss far from home, informed his family in India about the tragic accident. The news has sent shockwaves through his village in Telangana, where he was well-known and loved.

Praveen Kumar, who had earned his M.Sc in Chemistry from Osmania University, had previously worked at various colleges in Hyderabad before moving to the US. His sudden and untimely death has left his family and community in deep sorrow.
In response to this tragedy, BRS MLA and former state Minister G Jagadish Reddy has offered his condolences and support to the grieving family.

He has promised to coordinate with the Ministry of External Affairs to facilitate the repatriation of Praveen Kumar’s body to Hyderabad as soon as possible.
