The incident took place just outside the Four Seasons restaurant at around 8.40 pm. The restaurant is located in the ground floor of the same Four Residency building.
The two deceased are only identified as Shabbir and Imran and following their injury, they were taken to the Nair Hospital for treatment, where they were declared dead.
Senior police inspector Anil Koli of Worli police station said, “The two deceased are labourers and were working in the housing society opposite Four Seasons Residency. On Tuesday, after having their dinner they had come to the spot to drink tea when the incident took place.”
A civic official said that the case is being investigated by Mumbai Police and two cars that were parked in the vicinity of the restaurant were also damaged in the incident.
The Worli police, who at the time of going to the press, were in the process of registering an accidental death report said that they are investigating the matter.
As per police’s primary investigation it appears that few cement blocks fell on them from the high rise.
“It looks like after falling down, those cement blocks broke into pieces, so we are checking whether it was stone particles or blocks that fell on them,” said a senior police officer. “We are also checking whether they took precautions before starting the construction work. While we also try to identify whether there are other lapses,” said Koli.
