While the first week of December brings many highly anticipated films for moviegoers such as An Action Hero, Freddy, HIT: The Second Case, and Mother, the second week also has many films ranging from fantasy, horror, thriller, and action to offer audiences through cinema and OTT.
There is a line-up of films that are set to be released on December 9, both theatrically and digitally. Here we have compiled the names of the films that are ready to entertain you this weekend.
1- Blurr
Directed: Ajay Bahl
Produced by Zee Studios, the film is scheduled to be released directly on Zee5. It stars Taapsee Pannu in the lead role with Gulshan Devaiah and Kruttika Desai playing the supporting roles. The film is an official Hindi remake of the Spanish film Julia’s Eyes, as well as Pannu’s first production venture under her banner, Outsiders Films.
2- Maarrich
Director: Dhruv Lather
The film marks the return of Tusshar Kapoor to the big screen after a long time. He is also producing the project under his Tusshar Entertainment House in association with NH Studioz. He is playing the cop in this mystery thriller, which also stars veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah and Anita Hassanandani Reddy in key roles.
3- Salaam Venky
Director: Revathy
Produced by Suraj Singh and Shraddha Agarwal, the Hindi drama film Salaam Venky stars Kajol and Vishal Jethwa in the lead roles. The other actors onboard to play pivotal roles are Aahana Kumra, Rahul Bose, Rajeev Khandelwal, Prakash Raj, Anant Mahadevan, etc. It is arriving in theatres on December 9, 2022.
4- Pippa
Director: Raja Krishna Menon
The biographical war film is based on the life of Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta of the 45th Cavalry tank squadron, who fought on the Eastern Front during the Indo-Pak War of 1971 with his siblings.
Produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur, the film stars Bollywood’s budding actor Ishaan Khattar in the role of the legendary war hero, with Mrunal Thakur, Priyankshu Painyuli, and Soni Razdan in pivotal roles. The film will be released theatrically on December 9, after being postponed from December 2.
5- Vadh
Director: Jaspal Singh Sandhu & Rajeev Barnwal
The film is arriving in theaters, and it stars veteran Bollywood actors Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta in the lead roles. Produced by J Studio and Next Level Productions, the film is set in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, and its plot revolves around a middle-aged couple that lives a very simple and happy life until the husband, who is a retired school teacher, ends up murdering a man.
6- Life Is Good
Director: Ananth Mahadevan

Life is Good is a slice-of-life film that stars veteran Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff in the lead role as a middle-aged man. It is set to be released theatrically on December 9. It is produced by Anand Shukla under his Anand Shukla Production and also stars Rajit Kapoor, Mohan Kapoor, Darshan Jairwala, Ananya Vij, Sunita Sen, and Nakul Sahdev in key roles.
7- Varalaru Mukkiyam
Director: Santhosh Rajan
Starring actors Jiiva, Kashmira Pardeshi, and Pragya Nagra, the Tamil romantic comedy drama is set to arrive in theatres on December 9, 2022. Shot extensively in Chennai, Coimbatore, and Hyderabad, the film is the 37th project of Jiiva’s career and is produced by R.B. Choudary under his banner, “Super Good Films.”
8- Vijayanand
Director: Rishika Sharma
Based on the life of Padma Shree awardee and Indian businessman Vijay Sankeshwar, the chairman of India’s largest logistics firm VRL Group, the Kannada biographical film stars actor Nihal Rajput in the titular role with Bharath Bopanna, Anant Nag, Ravi Chandran, Prakash Belawadi, Siri Prahalad, Archana Kottige, and Anish Kuruvilla in pivotal roles.
9- Fall
Director: Scott Mann
The survival thriller, which was released on August 12, 2022, in the United States, is set to make its way to India after grossing around $19 million around the world.
Starring Grace Caroline Currey, Virginia Gardener, Mason Gooding, and Jeffrey Dean Morgon, the film is arriving in Indian theatres on December 9. It follows two women who climb a 2000-foot radio tower and get stranded at the top with no way down.
10- Cheppalani Undi
Director: Arun Barathi L
Cricketer turned actor Yash Puri will be seen in the social-comedy Telugu film Cheppalani Undi. It will arrive in cinemas on Dec 9. Along with Yash, it has Stefy Patel, Sathya, Prudhvi Raj among others.
It is directed by Arun Barathi L and produced by RB Chaudhary under Super Good Films. Yash is playing a journalist in his debut film, it revolves around how a small incident before an interview changes things for good.
11- DR 56
Director: Rajesh AnandaLeela
Kannada film DR56 is said to be released in the dubbed versions Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam on Dec 9. It is headlined by Priyamani, Praveen Reddy T, it also has Raj Deepak Shetty, Ramesh Bhat, and Manjunath Hegde among others.
