Before the film’s release, ‘Color Photo’ director Sandeep Raj made sensational comments about “Mukhachitram,” which he wrote, and the film featured Vishwak Sen in a guest role. So, it’s bound to pique people’s interest.

    Let’s analyze.

    Story:

Raj (Vikas Vasista) is a specialist in cosmetic surgery. His childhood friend Maya (Ayesha Khan) proposes to him, but he turns her down and instead marries a woman named Mahathi from Vijayawada (Priya Vadlamani).

Maya’s face is disfigured in a freak accident.

Maya gets a new face thanks to an operation performed by Raj. However, she soon finds out some shocking information.

    Artistes’ Performances:

The film relies heavily on Priya Vadlmani and her performance. She shows two sides of her personality: that of a sweet wife and that of a strong woman. She definitely gets better marks.

The dark side of Vikas Vasista’s character is where he truly shines. As the hero’s friend, Chaitanya Rao works fine. The character of Ayesha Khan is poorly written, and the actor’s portrayal of her is also unconvincing.

Vishwak Sen doesn’t quite fit the bill as a lawyer. His guest role doesn’t do much good. As another prominent lawyer, Ravi Shankar has left his mark.

    Technical Excellence:

The film’s technical and production values are subpar. With the exception of the background music, none of the technical output adheres to any kind of standard.

    Highlights:

    The relevant social message

    Drawback:

    Weak narration

    Unconvincing screenplay

    The court room proceedings

    Characterizations

    Analysis

Color Photo, Sandeep Raj’s debut film, won a national award for Best Regional Film in Telugu. Sandeep Raj wrote the story, screenplay, and dialogues for “Mukhachitram.” He structured the film in the style of a romantic thriller. For a long time, the film gives the impression that it is a thriller about plastic surgery.

We don’t know what the film’s point is until the end of the second act. Only then do we realise that the film’s central theme is marital rape. That is a hot topic!

However, delaying the reveal of the main plot is not the only issue. The inconsistency of the narration, as well as the poorly written characterizations of the main actors, ruined this film.

The abrupt twists do not appear natural. Furthermore, lengthy court drama completely distorts the seriousness of the message. The court drama appears to be a stage play. Vishwak Sen plays his role incorrectly.

When the film ends, it feels as if the opportunity to discuss an important topic was squandered.

The screenplay and treatment completely detract from the film.

In a nutshell, despite having a serious and relevant topic at its core, “Mukhachitram” fails miserably due to its flawed narration and poor execution.

    Bottom line: Uninteresting
