MS Dhoni’s Magic Saves CSK Against LSG

In a thrilling match at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) broke their five-match losing streak, defeating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2025’s Match 30.

CSK successfully chased down 167, despite a middle-order collapse, thanks to vital contributions from Shivam Dube and MS Dhoni.

CSK’s spin attack, led by Ravindra Jadeja, applied pressure on LSG’s middle order. Rishabh Pant’s captaincy played a key role in guiding LSG to a total of 166/6, with Pant himself contributing significantly to the score. However, CSK’s chase took the spotlight.

Shivam Dube, coming in as an Impact Player for CSK, replaced seamer Matheesha Pathirana. At 76/3, Dube anchored the innings while CSK lost wickets around him.

His composed 43* off 37 balls guided CSK to a tense win in the final over, with MS Dhoni providing crucial support. Despite the rising required rate, the duo kept their cool to secure a much-needed victory.

At 43, MS Dhoni once again showed why he is considered the greatest finisher in the game. With CSK needing 52 runs off 30 balls, Dhoni delivered a quickfire 26* off 11 balls, silencing his critics and proving his class in just one match.

Despite facing criticism for his form earlier in the season, Dhoni’s calm approach in a crucial phase secured a morale-boosting win for CSK. His past few innings had raised doubts, but once again, he demonstrated why he’s the greatest ever.

Dhoni’s composed presence under pressure played a pivotal role in CSK’s victory, reaffirming his status as one of the best finishers in IPL history.

On the other hand, LSG’s Ravi Bishnoi, also an Impact Player, initially looked dangerous, dismissing Rahul Tripathi and Ravindra Jadeja to reduce CSK from 74/2 to 96/4.

However, Pant’s decision to not bowl Bishnoi out early proved costly. Despite Bishnoi’s strong figures of 3-0-18-2, LSG couldn’t capitalize on the breakthroughs.

This victory will undoubtedly boost CSK’s confidence, and though their middle-order collapse remains a concern, key players like Dhoni and Dube stepping up will help CSK build momentum in the tournament.

However, Dhoni will need to deliver more such crucial innings in the upcoming matches to keep CSK afloat.
