Mohanlal’s directorial debut, Barroz 3D, became the most expensive film in his career and in Mollywood, with a budget exceeding Rs. 150 crores.
Released on December 25, 2024, across multiple languages, the film failed to meet expectations, receiving poor reviews and turned out to be a washout at the box office.

Sources close to Mohanlal reveal that the disastrous outcome of Barroz nearly pushed him into depression. However, the film has now resurfaced with the announcement of its OTT release.
Barroz 3D will be available for streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar starting January 22, 2025, in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada, with the Hindi version to be released later. While the movie was initially presented in 3D in theaters, only the 2D version will be available on OTT.

Many anticipate that the film may be heavily trolled for being amateurish, boring, and silly. Following the OTT release, it’s expected to face brutal criticism from the OTT audience.
