Modi Kashmir Visit Updates: ‘We will not hesitate to…,’ PM on J&K terror attacks

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement here on Thursday that assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be held soon and plans are underway to restore its statehood in the near future evoked mixed reactions.

While former Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad-led Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) welcomed Modi’s announcement, the main regional forces — the National Conference (NC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) — reacted cautiously.

PM Modi said in Srinagar, “The enemies of peace humanity doesn’t like development. Today, they are making their last efforts so that progress in Jammu and Kashmir stops and peace is not established.”

PM Modi said in Srinagar, “The people of Jammu and Kashmir elect their representatives at the local level, through them you find ways to solve problems, what can be better than this? Therefore, now the preparations for the Assembly elections have also started. The time is not far when you will elect the new government of Jammu and Kashmir with your votes. That day will also come soon, when Jammu and Kashmir will once again make its future better as a state.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said preparations for the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir have begun and the Union territory will get back its statehood too.

PM Modi said in Srinagar, “The government has taken the recent terror attacks very seriously. I assure you that we will not hesitate to teach a lesson to the enemies of Jammu & Kashmir.”

PM Modi says, “Today, 84 major developmental projects valued at more than ₹1,500 crores were inaugurated here. Projects related to the agriculture sector worth ₹1800 crore were inaugurated. New national highways and expressways are being constructed here. Every Indian feels proud when they see pictures of the world’s highest bridge on the river Chenab.”

PM Modi said in Srinagar today, “Wall of Article 370 collapsed and fruits of Constitution ensured in JK; today Indian Constitution has truly been implemented in JK.”

PM Modi said in Srinagar, “The changes we are seeing in Jammu & Kashmir today is the result of our work in the last 10 years.”

PM Modi said in Srinagar, “An aspirational society has only one parameter – performance. The country saw the performance and it is the result of this performance that the government has got a chance for the third time. Our government performs and delivers results. Forming the govt for the third time has given a message of stability to the world.”

J&K LG Manoj Sinha says, “The Prime Minister will inaugurate 84 developmental projects valued at more than Rs. 1,500 crores, projects worth Rs. 1,800 crores for improvement of Agriculture & Allied Sectors and appointment letters to more than 2000 persons appointed in government service will be given today.”

“Srinagar city has been declared as ‘Temporary Red Zone’ for the operation of drones and quadcopters as per provisions of Rule 24(2) of Drone Rules, 2021 with immediate effect,” the Srinagar Police said on X on June 18.

PM Modi posted on X, “Key projects worth over ₹1500 crore will be inaugurated or their foundation stones would be laid. These works cover infrastructure, water supply, education and more. Tomorrow morning, I will take part in the Yoga Day programme in Srinagar.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday to take part in International Yoga Day tomorrow, officials said.

The Prime Minister will also launch the Competitiveness Improvement in Agriculture and Allied Sectors (JKCIP) Project worth ₹1,800 crore. The project will be implemented in 90 Blocks across 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir and will have the project outreach of 300,000 households covering 15 lakh beneficiaries.

Ahead of PM Modi’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir, security forces and army are conducted searches in Nardi Akhnoor after suspicious sightings.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for projects like the improvement of the Chenani-Patnitop-Nashri Section, the development of Industrial Estates and the construction of six Government Degree Colleges.

PM Modi posted on X, “Leaving for Srinagar, where I will be taking part in two programmes. Later this evening, I will be at the ‘Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K’ programme, which focuses on youth-led development. Key projects worth over Rs. 1500 crore will be inaugurated or their foundation stones would be laid. These works cover infrastructure, water supply, education and more. Tomorrow morning, I will take part in the Yoga Day programme in Srinagar.”

Stringent multi-layer security arrangements have been put in place for the Prime Minister’s two-day visit to Kashmir. Security forces personnel have been deployed in strength across Srinagar City to ensure the prime minister’s visit passes off peacefully.

PM Modi is scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects in Jammu and Kashmir worth over ₹1,500 crore on Thursday.
