Various Microsoft services such as Teams, Outlook, Microsoft 365, OneDrive for Business, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Graph and Azure are facing downtime as per Downdetector. Microsoft’s own status website is showing that users will be unable to access Microsoft 365– previously known as Office 365. Users across the world are unable to access most of Microsoft’s key services.
According to the status page for Microsoft 365, the company has acknowledged that users may be unable to access multiple and the following services are listed as impacted:
-Microsoft Teams
-Exchange Online
-Outlook
-SharePoint Online
-OneDrive for Business
-Microsoft Graph
Microsoft is blaming “a potential networking issue” for this and “reviewing telemetry to determine the next troubleshooting steps.”
“Any user serviced by the affected infrastructure may be unable to access multiple Microsoft 365 services,” says the page.
Outlook, the email service from Microsoft is down in India and in a few more markets as per various reports from Twitter. This looks like an issue related to a server and the company is yet to comment on the same. Some users have also reported that Microsoft’s video calling app Teams is also unresponsive for select users. Teams is the app that many businesses use to ensure their employees stay connected.
Microsoft hosts all its services on its own Azure cloud. There seems to be an issue on the Microsoft Azure cloud as well, which has made several Microsoft services go offline. Besides these services, GitHub social coding is also down for several users across the world. Previously, Microsoft services witness an outage on January 2.

The Microsoft outage takes place a week after the company announced massive layoffs impacting closing to 10,000 employees globally. It has also announced plans to invest $10 billion in OpenAI this week.
“Starting at 07:05 UTC on 25 January 2023, customers may experience issues with networking connectivity, manifesting as network latency and/or timeouts when attempting to connect to Azure resources in multiple regions, as well as other Microsoft services,” wrote Microsoft on Azure’s status dashboard at 2.23 PM IST on Wednesday.
Microsoft attributed the issue to a power event that caused an outage to a portion of the storage system in the West Europe region. The outage caused failures in database systems backing Databricks services in the region. The storage service has been recovered and the company is working on mitigating the downstream impacts of the outage.
