The Maruti Suzuki Jimny is one of the most anticipated SUVs in the country, and even before its official launch on the 7th of June, the car is already being used for serious off-roading by YouTubers, as it is meant to be. Once launched, the Jimny will compete with lifestyle off-roaders like the Mahindra Thar and the Force Gurkha. Recently, a YouTuber shared a video of the upcoming Jimny standing next to an older generation Force Gurkha, showcasing the significant size difference between these two true-blooded off-roaders and providing insight into how it will soon dominate the off-road culture of the country.

The video, titled “Maruti Suzuki Jimny vs. Force Gurkha BSIV,” has been shared on YouTube by sansCARi sumit on their channel. The video begins with the owner showing both SUVs side by side and mentioning that they arrived at this spot after driving around in the new Jimny. He adds that they stumbled upon this striking-looking Force Gurkha and decided to compare both off-roaders. After the introduction, the presenter highlights that the primary reason for the comparison was to showcase the size difference between these purpose-built off-roaders.

The presenter then introduces the owner of the Force Gurkha and inquires about the car. The owner explains that this is the previous generation Gurkha, equipped with the BSIV diesel engine. The YouTuber then asks the owner about any modifications made to the SUV, to which the owner responds that aside from the aftermarket wheels and tires, no further modifications have been done. Continuing the conversation, the presenter asks if the owner added a lift kit to the vehicle as well, and the owner clarifies that this variant of the Force Gurkha came with a 3-inch lift from the factory.

Afterward, the presenter moves towards the rear of the car and emphasizes that although Indians are obsessed with big SUVs, this small off-roader cannot be judged using the same metrics. He adds that despite its compact appearance, the Jimny is a beast when it comes to off-roading. While discussing the capabilities of the Jimny, he showcases the SUVs from the rear, mentioning that the difference in the front is not as significant as in the rear.

The presenter then proceeds to ask more questions about the price and engine specifications of the Force Gurkha. The owner reveals that he bought the SUV for Rs 14.5 lakh four years ago and explains that this model came with a 140 bhp 2.2-liter diesel engine. He further mentions that there was another option available with a larger 2.6-liter diesel engine during this generation of the Gurkha. Additionally, he notes that this particular model came with solid axles from the company. The presenter then showcases the interior of the Gurkha, and the owner comments that the Jimny has better ergonomics, thanks to its five-door option, which is highly useful in the Indian market.
