Mark Kelly’s cryptic tweets leaves netizens confused about Kamala Harris’ VP pick

US Senate Mark Kelly of Arizona‘s cryptic posts on the social media platform X, sparked controversy within the Democratic Party on Sunday. The post which was later deleted and replaced with another appeared to suggest that he was no longer being considered as a running mate for Vice President Kamala Harris.
Kelly’s quickly deleted post on X said: “My background is a bit different than most politicians.I spent my life serving in the Navy and at NASA, where the mission always comes first.”
“Now, my mission is serving Arizonans,” It added.

After Kelly’s deleted tweet raised speculations among the netizens, the potential vice presidential candidate then posted another tweet, highlighting his service in the Navy and at Nasa.
“Whether it was from my time in the Navy and at Nasa, serving in the United States Senate, or visiting our troops overseas: I’ve learned that when your country asks you to serve, you always answer the call,” he posted on X, alongside a photo of him speaking with military personnel, New York Post reported.
Kelly’s spokesperson, Jacob Peters responded to the online circulation of the deleted tweet, clarifying that it was removed due to widespread misinterpretation.
Sharing a post on X, Peters said: “An Arizona senator tweeting about being an Arizona senator is not news! Go back to your Sundays everybody!”
The 60-year-old Democrat is one of the potential running mates being considered by Vice President Kamala Harris for the upcoming presidential election against the Republican nominees, former President Donald Trump and Senator JD Vance from Ohio.
Kelly posted on Twitter following a meeting with the Democratic presidential nominee at her residence in Washington DC.
Several other prominent Democrat candidates for VP include governors Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania and Tim Walz of Minnesota. Harris is expected to announce her running mate by Tuesday.
