Manchester United were condemned to a fourth loss in five home games as Brighton breezed past the Red Devils at Old Trafford.
The visitors took an early lead through Yankuba Minteh, but this was cancelled out midway through the first-half as Bruno Fernandes levelled from the spot.
After going into the break on terms, Brighton put on a second-half clinic to once again expose United’s weaknesses, with Kaoru Mitoma deservedly restoring ther Seagulls’ lead.
The game was then taken out of sight for the hosts as Andre Onana gifted the Seagulls a third, parrying the ball directly into the path of Georginio Rutter who slotted into an open net.
Another disastrous outing for the Red Devils, the result leaves them straddling in the bottom half of the table, having registered just 26 points in 22 games.
Follow for the reaction from Old Trafford below:
Where do United go from here?
It’s hard to look at this Manchester United team and see any player – perhaps other than Amad Diallo – that Ruben Amorim wouldn’t willingly cut ties with if he got the opportunity.
He lacks any pre-existing foundation to build a squad capable of taking United back to the top.
The ex-Sporting boss has got a mammoth job on his hands, and he’s being reminded of it week on week.

FULL-TIME! Manchester United 3-1 Brighton
Another torrid day at the office for Ruben Amorim as Brighton come out 3-1 winners at Old Trafford.
After Bruno Fernandes’ penalty cancelled out Yankuba Minteh’s early opener, Brighton put on a clinic in the second half, restoring their lead through Kaoru Mitoma.
The game was then taken out of sight for the hosts as Andre Onana gifted the Seagulls a third, parrying the ball directly into the path of Georginio Rutter who slotted into an open net.
Disastrous for United once again as Brighton do the double over the Red Devils in the league.

Manchester United 1-3 Brighton
90+7 mins: United may be chasing the lead, but it’s only Brighton who look like scoring in the latter stages.
Rutter drives into the box and finds Solly March in a four vs three – but instead of trying for a fourth, March does the smart thing and heads towards the corner, winning the foul and further killing the game.

Two of today’s standout performers.

Manchester United 1-3 Brighton
All over now, surely. When Andre Onana is bad, he is really bad and it was an awful mistake to spill Yasin Ayari’s cross at the feet of Georginio Rutter. Brighton are set for a third straight win at Old Trafford, something only Manchester City have done before in the Premier League.

90 mins: Eight minutes added on.
The Manchester United of old would believe they could maybe recover a two-goal deficit in that time. Not this Manchester United.

88 mins: The home fans are heading for the exits, certainly wondering where Amorim can take this team from here.
The Red Devils are still searching for a late way back into this game as Garnacho does well to fashion an opening, but his effort flies high and wide from a difficult angle.

Manchester United 1-3 Brighton
85 mins: United are putting balls into the box and trying to pile late pressure on Brighton, but is little is falling their way.
Another driving run from Amad Diallo sees the Ivorian get the ball to the byline. However, once again, the final pass doesn’t cut the mustard.

Manchester United 1-3 Brighton
81 mins: Amorim’s United looked to have turned a corner when they knocked out Arsernal in the FA Cup, just a week after grinding out a draw at league leaders Liverpool.
However, the more we look at it, those results appear to be little more than anomalies, where Man United played to the occasion rather than the game.
They’ve been outclassed in this second half, just days after undeservedly scraping past struggling Southampton. A lot of work to do.

GOAL! Manchester United 1-3 Brighton
76 mins: GOAL! An absolute HORROR SHOW from Andre Onana!
Ayari whips in a low cross that should be more than comfortable for the United keeper – but in a moment of madness, the Cameroonian just palms it into the path of Rutter, who sidesteps floored Onana to slot into the open net.
That just sums up the state of Manchester United at the moment. Disastrous.
