Leicester City goalkeeper Mads Hermansen has revealed how he was once injured by Man United star Rasmus Hojlund during an incident on international duty.

Hermansen had seen his tooth knocked out after a collision with Hojlund during a training session with Denmark.

The incident occurred as Denmark prepared for Euro 2024 last summer, with the team practicing set pieces.

Speaking on former Man United goalkeeper Ben Foster’s ‘Fozcast’, Hermansen revealed Hojlund had clattered into him while contesting for the ball, resulting in him losing a tooth.

‘You know as a goalkeeper sometimes when you have set piece practice. It’s like “are we going 100 per cent? Are we just a bit easy?”, Hermansen said.

‘So we were with the national team just before the Euros, it was optional training, you could come in and train if you want. So let’s do some corners.

‘I go: “Keepers!” And he just comes in with everything, elbow straight to my tooth. I took a corner off when I was younger as well so it was just the same bit of plastic.’

Hermansen and Foster offered differing views to Hojlund’s approach, with the latter claiming his approach was overzealous for the training session.

‘Cheers Rasmus, appreciate that,’ Foster said. ‘That’s rubbish that. I’m not having that, it’s poor.

‘When you’re doing it in a bit of practice set piece thing, you’ve got to take it easy. You can’t go full blooded like that.’

Hermansen disagreed with Foster’s view, suggesting the incident was reflective of Hojlund’s professionalism.

The 24-year-old praised the forward for giving everything in every session with the team.

‘He is that kind of guy and I love that about him,’ Hermansen said. ‘He’s giving everything, always. He’s just got an exceptional way of being a professional.’

The Danish team-mates will be on other sides later this month when Man United host Leicester in the Carabao Cup on October 30.

Hojlund would have the chance to put Hermansen to the test on corners again soon afterwards, with the Foxes travelling to Old Trafford again in the Premier League on November 10.

The Man United star himself has suffered a disrupted opening to the season through injury, which has limited him to just one start in seven Premier League game to date.

Hojlund will be looking for his first Premier League goal of the season when Man United host Brentford on Saturday.
