A video recently went viral claiming that a man traveled 250 kilometers from Itarsi to Jabalpur by hiding between a train’s wheel axles. While the Railway Ministry has dismissed this claim as “fake” and “misleading,” concerns remain about the dangers of such sensationalism.

On December 27, 2024, railway officials clarified that the man in the video was only hiding near the axle of a stationary train. “The reports are completely false,” said Dilip Kumar, Executive Director of the Railway Board. He emphasized that hiding near a moving train’s wheel axle is not only physically impossible but also life-threatening.
The viral nature of this fabricated story has sparked worry among officials, as it could inspire reckless behavior. Sensational claims like these may encourage individuals to attempt similar stunts, believing such feats are achievable. “Such actions could lead to fatal accidents and put lives at risk,” Kumar cautioned.

This incident highlights the responsibility of social media users and news platforms to verify content before sharing. While the video may have gained attention for its dramatic narrative, its false claims create dangerous precedents and spread misinformation.
The Railways urge the public to refrain from glorifying or sharing unverified stories, especially those involving stunts or risky behavior. Misleading sensationalism not only misguides people but also jeopardizes public safety.
