The menace of reels isn’t new to anyone. No matter where one goes, encountering reel-addicted individuals is almost inevitable. These content creators, obsessed with recording every moment for social media, seldom pause to consider the inconvenience and invasion of privacy they cause to those around them.
Public spaces, meant for relaxation and social interactions, are increasingly being turned into impromptu film sets. This has led to growing frustration among the general public, who find themselves unwilling participants in someone else’s online content.

A recent viral video highlights this issue. It shows a man confronting three young women filming a reel in a public space filled with children. While some initially backed the man, claiming that reels disrupt public spaces, others argued that the women were not breaking any laws. In fact, it was the man who violated their right to be in the space.
His frustration quickly escalated to verbal abuse, with slurs like “Kotha bana rakha hai” and “Behenchod, har jagah shuru ho jaate hain” directed at them.

This incident raises an important question: was the man truly standing against the “reel menace,” or was he harassing women under that pretext?
While excessive reel-making can be disruptive, public spaces belong to everyone. Rather than resorting to abuse or moral policing, the solution lies in open discussions about respect and etiquette in shared spaces.
