Alia Bhatt’s Jigra opened to empty theaters last week. Despite heavy promotion as a pan-India film, it lacked elements that would attract audiences in Hindi, forget about Telugu or Tamil.
The film flopped badly, earning only ₹16 crores net in its opening weekend in Hindi. The situation was even worse for its Telugu version, which collected around ₹18 lakhs in three days—a massive disaster.

Even with promotions from major Telugu stars, Alia’s film struggled to achieve minimal numbers in the Telugu market.
Superstar Mahesh Babu recently shared the trailer on social media, expressing his support by saying, “Looks like a blockbuster already! All the best to Alia and the entire team for the release today!”

Alia also visited Hyderabad for promotions, joined by Trivikram, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Rana Daggubati.
After the release, Rashmika Mandanna praised the film, stating, “I watched this film and couldn’t stop myself from giving a tight hug to the team. Alia Bhatt, you are an absolute blessing for us all! Thank you for showcasing your talent.”

The Telugu audience royally ignored Jigra, even with promotions from Mahesh Babu, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Rashmika Mandanna, Rana Daggubati, and Trivikram.
Bollywood filmmakers must understand that not all Hindi films connect with the Telugu audience as pan-India films and they should refrain from shoving such films down the throats of the Telugu audience.
After the movie flops, it becomes embarrassing for Telugu stars who wasted their star power on such a film that had no relevance with the Telugu audience.
