Priyanka Chopra, the ‘desi girl’ of the Indian film industry has made a brand and reputation for herself around the globe with her versatile performances in Bollywood and Hollywood.
After a long break from her Indian career, she is rumoured to be back with a bang alongside Mahesh Babu in ‘SSMB29’, directed by SS Rajamouli.

The actress has been very vocal about her struggles to reach the height at which she stands today. As it turns out, she had to face her fair share of ‘family conflicts’ before she became a star.
In an earlier interview, the actress revealed how many in her Punjabi family called her ‘Kaali’ (black) due to her dark skin colour.

She said, “I was the darkest, so in jest my family called me kaali, and I never really understood how much that affected me until I was a teenager.”
Remembering her childhood days, she reflected on how being called names like ‘brownie’ and ‘curry’ in school forced her to eat in a washroom instead of the cafeteria.

Priyanka also remembered how she does not have many fond memories with her father Ashok Chopra, owing to his strict military background.
She revealed how her father turned their house into a literal jail after someone jumped onto her balcony from another terrace.
Priyanka remarked, “My dad was terrified, and he literally turned our house into a jail. He put wrought-iron bars on my windows, because one guy had jumped from another terrace onto my balcony, and a big lock on the front door…
…I wasn’t allowed to wear tight clothes or tight T-shirts. We had a big clash of egos.”
Her story of struggle resonates with many in India, who feel inspired by her strong resilience and courage.
With reports speculating her role as the female lead Mahesh Babu in SS Rajamouli’s ‘SSMB 29’, it will be interesting to see her skills in action in such a prestigious project.
