Magnitude 6.2 Earthquake Hits Nepal, Strong Tremors Felt in Delhi-NCR

Strong tremors were felt across Delhi-NCR and other parts of north India after an earthquake measuring 6.2 magnitude hit Nepal on Tuesday afternoon.

The earthquake was recorded with epicentre at Talkot area of Bajhang district, 700 km west of Kathmandu, at 2.40 p.m., the National Seismological Centre said.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police informed that no damage to life or property was reported to police in the national capital after the earthquake tremors.

The earthquake tremors were felt across North India, with netizens taking to social media to share scary visuals. No casualties have been reported as yet.

In a social media post on X, Delhi Police said: “Hey Delhi people! We hope you all are safe. Please come out of your buildings to a safe spot, but do not panic. DO NOT USE ELEVATORS! For any emergency help, dial 112.”

The strong tremors brought back memories of the 2015 earthquake that had hit Nepal and resulted in the deaths of thousands of people in the country.
