The month of September 2023 was one of the best months in terms of sales for the Japanese carmaker Honda Cars India Limited. The company, last month, recorded a sales tally of 9,861 units, which helped it achieve an impressive 13.2 percent growth on a year-on-year basis. Bear in mind, this total sales tally does not include the cars that were exported by the company last month. These are just the domestic sales figures of Honda Cars India for the month of September.
Commenting on the achievement of this sales figure, Yuichi Murata, Director of Marketing and Sales at Honda Cars India, stated, “Honda Cars India is amid an exciting phase with the launch of the all-new Honda Elevate. The new SUV has emerged as a frontrunner and is contributing significantly to the sales momentum during this festive season. The Honda City and Amaze also continue to perform well in their respective segments.”

The company, during the same month last year, which was September 2022, managed to dispatch a total of 8,714 units. The difference between the year-on-year sales figures was 1,147 units. This accounted for an impressive growth of 13.2 percent.
Month-to-month analysis
Not only did the company manage to post a great year-on-year sales growth result, but it also managed to post an even better month-to-month growth figure as well. The company, during the month of August this year, managed to sell a total of 7,880 units. When compared with the sales tally of September 2023, this was 1,981 units less. In terms of the month-to-month growth figure, the company managed to post an increase of 25.1 percent.
Exports Declined on Year-on-Year Basis
The only downside for Honda Cars India in the month of September 2023 was that it reported a significantly lower figure for exports. Last year, in the month of September 2022, the total exports by the company were 2,333 units. However, this year, this number fell to 1,310 units. The total decline of 1,023 units resulted in a year-on-year figure drop of 43.84 percent.
Brighter Future Ahead
With this new achievement, it can be noted that Honda Cars India is on the right trajectory. With the launch of the all-new Elevate mid-size SUV, which is the first-ever made-in-India global SUV from the brand, the company will most likely have a smashing festive season ahead. The newly launched Honda Elevate is proving itself to be a formidable rival to the popular compact SUVs in India. The names of its rivals include Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, along with MG Astor and the newest kid on the block, the Citroen C3 Aircross.
