Luke Littler stars in Sky trailer for new darts documentary series promising ‘behind the scenes access’ to the teenager’s stunning run to the World Championship final

  • Sky’s new docuseries ‘Game of Throws: Inside Darts’ launches on November 30
  • The series offers behind the scenes access to last year’s World Championships
  • Luke Littler’s run to the final as a 16-year-old proved the story of the tournament

World champion Luke Humphries and teenage sensation Luke Littler have featured in the trailer for a new Sky documentary ‘Game of Throws: Inside Darts’.

The documentary is officially set to launch on November 30 on Sky and NOW in the build-up to next month’s PDC World Championships.

The three-part docuseries focuses on last year’s World Championships at Alexandra Palace as 96 players battled out to become world champion and claim the £500,000 top prize.

Last year’s tournament saw the popularity of darts soar following then 16-year-old Luke Littler’s rise from an unknown teenager to a major star.

Littler, known as ‘The Nuke’, stormed through the rounds at the tournament as the then youth world champion threatened to claim the senior title.

His record breaking debut fell just short as Humphries beat Littler 7-4 in the final, which was watched by a record 4.8 million people in Sky Sports.

Littler had famously been greeted by chants of ‘you’ve got school in the morning’ by the crowd as the 16-year-old advanced through the rounds.

Littler’s progression through the tournament is captured in the docuseries, which promises to tell the story of the ‘new kid on the block’.

The trailer featured a comment from Littler’s mum Lisa, reflecting on his progress at Alexandra Palace.

‘He is still a kid at heart, even though he looks like a man,’ Lisa commented, while footage showed the teenager playing on his Playstation.

Littler is not the only star featured during the series, with tournament favourite ‘Cool Hand’ Luke Humphries discussing his title ambitions.

Humphries was heard saying ‘I have to leave this sport with a world title and that makes me more hungry’ during the trailer.

He would ultimately achieve that aim by downing Littler in the final to claim the title for the first time in his career.

Defending champion ‘Bully Boy’ Michael Smith and Dutch superstar ‘Mighty Mike’ Michael van Gerwen are among others to have taken part in the series.

The series promises unprecedented access behind the scenes, with players, managers and their families among the contributors.

Littler, Humphries and Van Gerwen were present for the premiere of the docuseries on Monday.

The world premiere was held at Picturehouse Central in London, ahead of the official launch on November 30.

The docuseries has been co-produced by Dorothy St Pictures – the award winning company behind ‘Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story’ – and John Skipper’s US-based Meadowlark.

The series comes ahead of this year’s World Championships when Littler and Humphries will again be expected to be in contention.

Littler has gone from strength to strength since his stunning debut, with the 17-year-old winning Premier League Darts and the Grand Slam of Darts this year.

He was forced to settle for second place at the Players Championship on Sunday, as Humphries clinched victory to defend the title he won in 2023.
