    After getting into power, the NDA coalition government in Andhra Pradesh has been working on the new excise policy. As per the latest reports, the making of policy neared its end and is expected to be implemented from October 1.

    According to the reports, the government of Andhra Pradesh is planning to bring back the liquor policy which was there in the state before 2019. The liquor rates are expected to be much cheaper if the new policy gets implemented. It is heard that the government is aiming to fix the rates cheaper than liquor rates in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

    Even during the election campaign, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu accused the previous Jagan government of bringing low-quality liquor to the states and promised to deliver high-quality liquor at cheaper prices once he gets into power.

    As the current liquor policy’s tenure is going to end this month, the government accelerated the work of the new liquor policy. Already, the cabinet sub-committee which was formed to discuss the new liquor policy held two meetings and is holding its last meeting on September 17. An official announcement about the new liquor policy is expected to be made after this meeting.

    In the upcoming meeting, the committee will be discussing liquor licence fees, application fees, and non-refundable charges. Ministers Kollu Ravindra, Nadendla Manohar, Kondapalli Srinivas and Satya Kumar are the members of this cabinet sub-committee.

    It is heard that the government is aiming to sell all major liquor brands in the state. The sub-committee is expected to place its report on the cabinet’s table during its meeting on September 18.

    The sub-committee accused the previous government of ruining the liquor business in the state. It was alleged that the YCP government’s liquor policy was only to loot money from the public. Thus, the current government decided to scrap it and is coming up with a new policy.
