Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has firmly cemented his place as one of India’s most in-demand filmmakers. With Coolie, starring Rajinikanth, set for release on August 14, expectations are at an all-time high.
Many fans, especially in Tollywood, have been eager to see Lokesh collaborate with top Telugu stars like Prabhas or Ram Charan. However, Lokesh has now made it clear—such cross-industry combinations won’t happen anytime soon.

Speaking at the premiere of Suriya’s Retro, he confirmed his next two films: Kaithi 2 and Rolex with Suriya. These projects will keep him occupied until at least 2028.
There are also rumors of Vikram 2 with Kamal Haasan, but Lokesh hasn’t confirmed anything yet. A potential project with Prabhas under Hombale Films is reportedly in early talks, but if it happens, it won’t materialize for another 3–4 years.

As for Ram Charan, discussions have taken place, but scheduling and creative differences have prevented things from moving forward.
Some fans feel Lokesh is limiting his pan-India reach by sticking to Tamil actors. While Kaithi 2 and Rolex excite Tamil audiences, they may not match the nationwide craze of Pushpa 2 or Animal. He should have followed Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s footsteps.
